Ingonish Beach

The first thing people notice about this beach is the cobblestones that are worn round and smooth by action of the waves. This same wave action brings the sand back to the beach each summer giving us a nice sandy beach to play on.   A ‘barachois’ made of beach cobbles blocked off a cove centuries ago, cutting it off from the salty Atlantic Ocean gives us the warmer Freshwater Lake.

Services include: Washrooms and change houses, playground, picnic area, tennis courts and a canteen during July and August. Surf guards are on duty at both saltwater and freshwater beaches during July and August.
