Ingonish Development Society


The Ingonish Development Society (IDS) is a non-profit society actively working with businesses and community groups in the Ingonish area.

The Society's past accomplishments include:

- Formation of Ski Cape Smokey Society
- Established the Ingonish Beach Volunteer Fire  Department.
- Formed Smokey Recreation Society (owns and operates an official size outdoor rink, renovated a former school building that is used by the Society for recreational and entertainment events, meetings, change and warm up room for skaters.
- Formed an autonomous committee in 1998 to develop a vision and plan for a multi phase waterfront development project - the first phase of the project has been completed.

The IDS is also responsible for the Ingonish welcome signs, this website www.experienceingonish.com and Ingonish Connected Facebook Page.  

Future plans to develop the Marina are on-going.
